Last updates before Christmas»

With Xubuntu, we are currently finalizing the specifications for those roadmap items that need community approval. I discussed those briefly in my blog, in the Roadmap closed -article. All specifications should be ready by December 29, 17UTC, when we have our community meeting (see the Meetings wiki page for more details and the agenda). Please join us then, it’s a great way to be involved and a good time to start contributing too, since we still need to implement all the blueprints – while all of them have an assignee already, any help is always welcome.

On other news, we talk a bit about work done in the last weeks in the Shimmer Project blog. Check it out!

Have a peaceful Christmas time and a very happy new year 2012!

A short break from FOSS»

I will be taking a break from FOSS starting from now. I will be off from all duties, and I will not be following IRC, the mailing lists, Launchpad or any other matters until the break ends.

I will be back any time between Saturday, 5th of November, 22 UTC and Monday, 7th of November, 20 UTC.

New Xubuntu website taster»

As we are approaching the Oneiric Ocelot release date, the Shimmer team has worked hard with the Xubuntu developers to create a new themes for Plymouth and LightDM as well as a new website.

As you might already know, Xubuntu is switching from Drupal to WordPress, at last. WordPress is a personal preference for quite many of us, and amongst others I’m very happy to be able to work with it. Without any further praises, I want to quickly show a taster of what we have accomplished this far with the new website theme:

What do you think? Is it looking as good as we think, or are we too subjective? How can we improve it?
