I slapped xubuntu 8.10 on an old dilapidated hacked together pc so me and my wife could have a computer upstairs. It had a 15 inch, 15 year old monitor and, while it was ugly, it ran like a champ. I was use to Ubuntu, and in comparison Xubuntu felt very light weight, but it was just what we needed for that comp. Recently I installed Xubuntu Jaunty through the WUBI installer on my laptop. All I can say is Wow! What an amazing piece of work. It’s quick, attractive, and it has everything I could need. I use Windows at work because it’s the status quo, but as soon as I get home I reboot into my Xubuntu.
